With funding provided by the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) through the National Research Council - Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), ELORIN is working on the second phase of the Biomass for Rural Vitality project aimed to create an agricultural pellet facility in Eastern Ontario.
Using the first phase of the Biomass for Rural Vitality as a launching point (to view the completed report please click here) we would like to provide a leadership role in building a pilot scale size agricultural pellet facility in Eastern Ontario.
To execute this project ELORIN has issused a Request for Proposals (RFP) for interested industry experts. To download a copy of the RFP please click here.
In this second phase of the project we will accomplish the following:
- Secure medium to long-term (5-7 year) contracts with farmers interested in growing energy crops.
- Determine the ownership/management structure of the processor who will be responsible for managing all farmer contracts, technical requirements for the equipment, and end markets for the finished product.
- Identify funding sources available to purchase required equipment.
- Develop local markets for the finished product focusing on the end user (i.e. home heating, light industrial)
